Leather Jacket as a Go-To Statement Piece

We had a death pact, and I have to keep my half of the bargain.
Please bury me next to my baby in my leather jacket, jeans and motorcycle boots.
Goodbye.
-Sid Vicious-

The leather jacket is an iconic piece of clothing. It’s a garment so compelling and versatile that it has relevance for everyone from punks to police officers. That’s because the naturally malleable, breathable material can be styled in an infinite number of ways to suit the needs of the person wearing it. Leather jackets achieved full-fledged iconic-status during the 20th century in part through their counterculture image portrayed in film and television.

Like fine cheeses and Johnny Depp, some things actually improve with age: cue the quintessential motorcycle jacket. The ultimate rock chic essential, a decent biker should see you through a lifetime of festivals and fun nights-out - the leather will get more supple over the years, and any wear and tear will only add to the jacket's edgy appeal.

A black leather jacket is great for throwing over any outfit in spring or fall. Forgo the cheaper pleather materials and spring for the real deal -- the difference is palpable. A 100 per cent leather jacket with minimal hardware can look chic for a lifetime of wear and a leather jacket with clean lines can be dressed up or down and is an essential wardrobe luxury. The great thing about leather is that the more it's worn, the better it looks. Fit tip: Buy your leather jacket a bit snug. Over time, the leather will give and stretch a little bit to conform to your body shape.

I'm gonna close this post with pictures of red leather jacket, which I think is so adorable. Oh, also... I have one red (maroon) pleather piece myself. It's my statement piece which can not go wrong with any outfit.

Kanye West Loves His Sneakers

These past years I noticed the trend of flat shoes/sandals is everywhere, especially with younger women. So I try to alternate my footwear by wearing flats on weekends. The sad thing is, I got used to wearing higher heels so much my feet ached after I wore my flats. I know, crazy right?! Probably my feet have changed structure or perhaps I just dread the feeling while wearing flats as I would look "less fashionable". Even so, I push myself to wearing flats and now I can officially say that I don't feel the pain on my feet anymore.

Flats I can do, but one item I can't seem to master is the sneakers (other than for running). Also not that many women look good in wearing one, except for those teen with boyish frame.

I googled the word sneakers and fashion and found so many women are actually wearing it, stylishly. Hmmm.... It's one item I really need to master soon.

You can wear it with skirt

Or a summerdress

or wear it with the casual pants

One other thing I also notice on my google result is that Kanye West is probably one of the biggest supporter of sneaker. Mr. West sure looks delicious in these pictures. He wears the sneakers for casual events to the black tie events. Mr. West sure loves his sneakers.

Denim Shirt Anyone?

Key to menswear’s current workwear influence, the denim or chambray shirt holds that all important rugged appeal. Stone washed vintage styles from authentic denim labels sit alongside clean cut denim shirts from sought after menswear brands.

Here's how the men (ahem) wears it.

And here's..... how I think the coolest ways of wearing the denim shirt.

Wear it in a ladylike manner.

Or... Wear it like a man!

The (boyfriend) Cardigan

Over the last few years the boyfriend cardigan has calmly taken its position as the ultimate go to cover up, that can be relied on to solve an endless array of outfit dilemmas. Now the boyfriend cardigan has graduated from sly menswear department dash (or boyfriend's bedroom rummage) to fully fledged wardrobe staple, with the high street offering hundreds of styles to choose from in the sizes, fabrics and colors girls want to wear.

I am obsessed with boyfriend cardigans, in part because I have my frozen days at times and if I don't wear wintery clothing my allergy will surface. These extra long sweaters cover my lower back and keep me warm. They're also fashion-y and a more grownup alternative to all the hoodies I wore during my college days. Beyond that, they are sold everywhere which means you can score them at very reasonable prices, and they are incredibly versatile so you'll get plenty of wear out of them. And that makes them a great value.

I know! Right! ;)
Couldn't resist posting the above picture.

If you haven't got one already, now is the time to investigate the benefits of the boyfriend cardigan. Whether you like boyfriend cardis for the warmth, or you just love the look, here's some inspiration for how to wear them. Are you a fan? How do you wear yours?
